Seems there are many heroes amongst us here in the Treasure Valley and one that I truly admire is Boise DJ KeKe Luv.
For those of you that did not follow this remarkable story, let me fill you in. KeKe Luv stayed awake and on air for 175 hours straight, that's 7 days to add awareness and raise money for child abuse. There are huge health risks at doing this but he truly believed in the cause and dedicated everything he had in doing this. I have heard many say that this was another media ploy to gain listeners as he was also breaking a world record. I say, this is not the case. Although KeKe did break the world record, it was never formally registered with the Guiness Book of World Records as the radio station and himself did not want to take away the importance of what this endeavor was really about.
I followed his story over the 7 days that he remained awake and live on air. It was very heartwarming. The callers that called in to share their stories were amazing, many of them tearjerkers. Many people called in to support KeKe to make sure that he was ok and to commend him in what he was doing.
I have to ask everyone, would you be willing to put your health at risk for a cause you believed so strongly in? I would gather to say that most of us would not. I think that KeKe Luv is an outstanding human being who brought a lot of attention and awareness to child abuse. What a wonderful act of kindness to this community and the children who are suffering everywhere. I wish there were more people like him out there.
