The good news however, is that we are evidently not as corrupt as North Dakota.
In response to the recent scandal involving Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, and a nearly institutionalized inclination to condemn Chicago and Illinois as hubs of public corruption, USA Today today published data showing that - per capita - they come in a mere 18th place for corruption. Let us recap... Idaho is one of the worst States in terms of Childhood Immunizations, Child and Spousal Abuse, Integrity in Government, DUI Convictions, Teenage Suicide, and the list goes on. But it's sooooooooo beautiful.
what is up with this place again! My wife and our two friends went in last week and we stood there for over 10 and no one in site. It also appears that several of the merchandise is gone. Does anyone know if this place is yet again changing. Such a waste of space. I here the owner is a total idiot!
As reported on extensively by Mr. Frazier @ the Boise Guardian and elsewhere, our illustrious leaders are seemingly incapable of creating a simple Traffic Mall and have even screwed the pooch so bad that the city stands to loose millions of Federal Dollars to build it and are scrambling like tweekers to put something - anything - in place.
I’m constantly amazed by the short term thinking encountered. Like when the Flying M Coffee House on Idaho Street (otherwise an ostensibly socially conscious company) bitched and moaned about potentially loosing 2 or 3 Metered Parking Spaces to accommodate a Bus Stop in Front of their place. What… Bus riders don’t drink coffee? Try telling that to Dawson’s, Thomas Hammer and Starbuck’s. Granted, the vast majority of Boiseans would rather be boiled in oil alive than ** gasp ** set foot on public transportation, and the public perception is often one where the only users of public transportation are immigrants, freaks, people who have lost their licenses, etc., AND the powers that...
Things will be better for me for a while as I am not in new construction or car sales.
I just hope people keep many of their current jobs so they will have upgrades to their homes to keep me busy as ever.
Having a summer fun kid's party and wanted some good idea's on some fun kids appetizers. I need some things to go with mini hot dog wraps! Any ideas???
Why do you think there has been such an increase in home invasions over the last couple of months? It seems like every couple of days there is one in the news. It's unsettling.

To whom it may concern,
I would like to tell you what some of the votes and political decisions that have been made in this “right to work” state has done to just our family. My husband has been a truck driver for over 10 years, he has never been late on a load, nor has he called in sick except one time that I can remember, that was due to injury on the job, he only allowed himself to be out of work for a few days. My husband started working for Brian Wilson Trucking in Emmett Idaho, whom praised his work all of the time that he worked there. With the economy going as you all know that it is, it was becoming harder for Brian Wilson to find loads for my husband to get. He would be laid over for a few days waiting, or he would be stuck at home for a day or two, all of this with no pay. My husband did not complain, not once. He was never late on a load with Brian Wilson trucking. Then I became ill, as I have severe anxiety and depression, I needed my medication changed. Since Brian Wilson Trucking...
Just caught this posting on From the Editors
By Vickie Holbrook Is this a story? You tell me? Canyon County Commissioner Steve Rule forwarded an e-mail about Michelle Obama's election-night dress (black with a red splattering of color in the front) to 26 people, including Canyon County government e-mail accounts, according to blogger Jill Kuraitis, at NewWest Boise. It's wrong for any government official to use a government sponsored e-mail to send text, jokes, pictures, videos or links of anything to anyone unless it is official county business. Because if you do, it will like bite you in the butt, as this one has bitten Steve Rule. Rule said he thought it was funny. Kuraitis calls it racist because it compares Michelle Obama to a black widow spider. Is it racist? Many people would not think so. She also talks about Idaho's reputation when it comes to tolerance. But I wanted to learn more. I figured if it could be forwarded, it had to start on the Web somewhere, much like most of the other "crap" that fills our e-mail...

Anybody know about children's spanish lessons that don't cost a fortune? Everything I find is so expensive and I would love to get my son into spanish lessons. Does anyone know somebody that has good references that may do this on the side?
Ever feel like you are being watched for no good reasons other than you are Hispanic-looking and happen to live in Nampa? Why are Nampa Police running license plate checks or criminal histories, or whatever it is they are doing on their computers in their cars, when they are stopped behind a law-abiding (and LEGAL for that matter) Hispanic motorist?? Why the extra scrutiny??
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!
~ Albert Einstein * Stable city management by a professional, accredited City Administrator free of partisan politics * Apportionment of the City Council for truer representative government * Accreditation of the Boise Police Department and reconstitution of the Office of the Police Ombudsman's Office into an "Office of the Citizen's Advocate" for all of City Government. An office found in good government everywhere. * Efficiency, transparency and control with absorption of the various components of Boise's Shadow Government into City Government * Inspiring, proactive infrastructure development and healthy, sustainable growth delivered by a City Hall more concerned with actual livability than with livability slogans - - - - The Office of the Mayor's budget, compensation and responsibilities dramatically reduced, becoming a Councilman-at-Large with ultra v powers. On 09 August 2008, The Boise Picayune posed this question (via email) to our Federal, State and Local Elected Officials, those Seeking Office, and Members of Law Enforcement:
"Currently before the 110th Congress of the United States is H. R. 5843 - Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults. Would you please share with the public whether you intend to support this legislation, and briefly express your views on deprioritizing or decriminalizing the personal use and possession of marijuana by adults." -- As of 25 August 2008, The Boise Picayune had received no replies. -- The Idaho State Tax Commission sells "Marijuana Tax Stamps" for $3.50 per Gram of Marijuana. -- Hailey, Idaho recently joined the growing number of communities that have voted to deprioritize / decriminalize - vis-à-vis legalize - marijuana. In 2006, 89% of the nearly 830,000 Americans arrested for marijuana offenses were arrested for mere possession. That's over 3/4 of a Million arrests that consume Billions...
What sentence would you give Joseph Edward Duncan III, the vile, subhuman rat-filth who slaughtered an Idaho family in order to kidnap, rape and torture two children (before killing one of them, too)?
And don't just say "death." Be creative.
I'm pretty fed up with the discussion on the Nampa Library. I don't understand why the Library board can't make up its mind. I don't like the fact that people have to ask for a couple of books that may help them.
Sex is a natural act. So why are people worried about others who might read something about sex? Sure, some of those "unnatural acts" aren't something the Christian Right approves of, but why is it their business who does what? Are these moralists afraid their church going friends having some fun? Get real! There's more to life than just those two books. People should spend more time experimenting with sex than worrying about what's on the shelves at the library.

-- Idaho Near Top In Lack Of Gov’t Integrity "Idaho made it on another National List recently, placing near the top of the “Lack of Integrity In Government” survey. Probably won’t see any press releases from Team Dave, the Commishes, or Guv. Butch’s spinmeisters on that one. THE SURVEY by the Chicago-based Better Government Association examined open records laws, open meeting laws, whistle-blower laws, campaign finance requirements and conflict-of-interest laws. It then created a government “integrity index” that put Idaho near the bottom of the list–or the top when it comes to LACK of integrity in government. Here at the GUARDIAN we see it all the time. Boise City nearly doubles the appraised value on desert land they took in trade, and claimed a 4 year old public hearing was legal authority to trade citizen owned property. Twin Falls urban renewal agency does a land deal contingent...
Does anyone know anything about motor scooters? Specifically, what kind of gas mileage they get, how fast they go, and about how much they cost, and can you get down the freeway on one of them?
So who do you think will win the Sheriff's race in Canyon County?
Call it a bad dream, but I keep thinking Nourse is going to win. I just hope that's not the case on May 27.
The Caldwell Guardian recently raised this question in relation to governance in Canyon County.
Staunton, Virginia is the Birthplace of the Council / Manager form of governance. Created in 1908 during the Progressive Era to remove city government from the machinations of politics, and place management of the city into the hands of a trained, accredited executive who would remain neutral to city politics. -- Before an unexpected death forced yours truly to drop out of the race (all the time cognizant of my "Snowball's Chance in Hell"), my erstwhile campaign for Mayor of Boise had two main components to its platform. * Upon election, my first order of business would have been to "demote" myself and transform the Mayor's Office into a far less expensive ceremonial office and switch to a professional, accredited City Manager form of government, and; * What I dubbed: "Enthusiastic Plagiarism". Very few - if any - of the problems faced here in Idaho are unique to Idaho and have long since been successfully addressed... |
