Dear Citizens of Nampa,
On Thursday October 15th a Nampa Citizen, Mr. Alan Marsh wrote a letter to the editor in The Idaho Press Tribune that contained falsehoods about me and my candidacy. First he said that I ran as a Democrat for Mayor of Lansing MI. when that race is totally non-partisan. Mr. Marsh failed to inform you that I also was a member of the Republican Party at one time and even helped George H.W. Bush in his campaign in 1992. It is true that I ran as a Democrat for State Rep. in Michigan at one time, however I am not affiliated with any parties as I take a little from both parties in my way of thinking. Mr. Marsh also said that I advocated gay marriage which is totally untrue. As mayor of Nampa I would never try to push an agenda on Nampa citizens that they were against. He also said that the NAATP advocated gay marriage on their website. The NAATP doesn't have a website and was disbanded by me in 2004. There is a group on Yahoo called the NAATP, but I am not one of...
What is Bus Rapid Transit? What could BRT mean for Nampa and The Treasure Valley?
BRT is an innovative, high capacity, lower cost public transit solution that can significantly improve urban mobility. This permanent, integrated system uses buses or specialized vehicles on roadways or dedicated lanes to quickly and efficiently transport passengers to their destinations, while offering the flexibility to meet transit demand. BRT systems can easily be customized to community needs and incorporate state-of-the-art, low-cost technologies that result in more passengers and less congestion. After reading the plan below (go to link) I know that this will work and I want it to start in Nampa.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!
~ Albert Einstein * Stable city management by a professional, accredited City Administrator free of partisan politics * Apportionment of the City Council for truer representative government * Accreditation of the Boise Police Department and reconstitution of the Office of the Police Ombudsman's Office into an "Office of the Citizen's Advocate" for all of City Government. An office found in good government everywhere. * Efficiency, transparency and control with absorption of the various components of Boise's Shadow Government into City Government * Inspiring, proactive infrastructure development and healthy, sustainable growth delivered by a City Hall more concerned with actual livability than with livability slogans - - - - The Office of the Mayor's budget, compensation and responsibilities dramatically reduced, becoming a Councilman-at-Large with ultra v powers. A Professional, accredited City admistrator vetted and...
Things will be better for me for a while as I am not in new construction or car sales.
I just hope people keep many of their current jobs so they will have upgrades to their homes to keep me busy as ever.
The good news however, is that we are evidently not as corrupt as North Dakota.
In response to the recent scandal involving Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, and a nearly institutionalized inclination to condemn Chicago and Illinois as hubs of public corruption, USA Today today published data showing that - per capita - they come in a mere 18th place for corruption. Let us recap... Idaho is one of the worst States in terms of Childhood Immunizations, Child and Spousal Abuse, Integrity in Government, DUI Convictions, Teenage Suicide, and the list goes on. But it's sooooooooo beautiful.
Just caught this posting on From the Editors
By Vickie Holbrook Is this a story? You tell me? Canyon County Commissioner Steve Rule forwarded an e-mail about Michelle Obama's election-night dress (black with a red splattering of color in the front) to 26 people, including Canyon County government e-mail accounts, according to blogger Jill Kuraitis, at NewWest Boise. It's wrong for any government official to use a government sponsored e-mail to send text, jokes, pictures, videos or links of anything to anyone unless it is official county business. Because if you do, it will like bite you in the butt, as this one has bitten Steve Rule. Rule said he thought it was funny. Kuraitis calls it racist because it compares Michelle Obama to a black widow spider. Is it racist? Many people would not think so. She also talks about Idaho's reputation when it comes to tolerance. But I wanted to learn more. I figured if it could be forwarded, it had to start on the Web somewhere, much like most of the other "crap" that fills our e-mail...
To whom it may concern,
I would like to tell you what some of the votes and political decisions that have been made in this “right to work” state has done to just our family. My husband has been a truck driver for over 10 years, he has never been late on a load, nor has he called in sick except one time that I can remember, that was due to injury on the job, he only allowed himself to be out of work for a few days. My husband started working for Brian Wilson Trucking in Emmett Idaho, whom praised his work all of the time that he worked there. With the economy going as you all know that it is, it was becoming harder for Brian Wilson to find loads for my husband to get. He would be laid over for a few days waiting, or he would be stuck at home for a day or two, all of this with no pay. My husband did not complain, not once. He was never late on a load with Brian Wilson trucking. Then I became ill, as I have severe anxiety and depression, I needed my medication changed. Since Brian Wilson Trucking...
The Caldwell Guardian recently raised this question in relation to governance in Canyon County.
Staunton, Virginia is the Birthplace of the Council / Manager form of governance. Created in 1908 during the Progressive Era to remove city government from the machinations of politics, and place management of the city into the hands of a trained, accredited executive who would remain neutral to city politics. -- Before an unexpected death forced yours truly to drop out of the race (all the time cognizant of my "Snowball's Chance in Hell"), my erstwhile campaign for Mayor of Boise had two main components to its platform. * Upon election, my first order of business would have been to "demote" myself and transform the Mayor's Office into a far less expensive ceremonial office and switch to a professional, accredited City Manager form of government, and; * What I dubbed: "Enthusiastic Plagiarism". Very few - if any - of the problems faced here in Idaho are unique to Idaho and have long since been successfully addressed...
So who do you think will win the Sheriff's race in Canyon County?
Call it a bad dream, but I keep thinking Nourse is going to win. I just hope that's not the case on May 27.
It's shaping up to be a pretty good one! For starters, who do you believe?
The candidate or the paper? I think it might be time to replace them all — well nearly all of them. There might be one spot out there where the incumbent is worthy of staying.... anyone want to weigh in? Come on....I dare you...I double dare you!
This week will be the start of the IRS sending out tax rebates. They tell everyone to go out and spend it to raise the economy, but alot of people are planning to save it. What are you going to do with it?
What do you think about the cost of living for retired citizens? I think is not fair, after some of our retired citizens served in the war! they deserve better Medical Benefits/Housing. We owe them that much!
Some say Gov. Otter wants Idaho to get back to its agricultural roots. Others say the current administration supports the state's technology sector with generous tax incentives. Do you think Idaho's agriculture is more important than its technology? How far should the state government go to get jobs here and keep them here?
U.S. soldiers continue to die. The war in Iraq is costing billions of dollars and we've been there for years. Is now the time to leave? What's our mission there? Has it been accomplished?
Do you feel that any local political races have gotten out of hand, in terms of name-calling and/or accusations? If so, which ones? In what ways?
